MBABANE – One of the South African men who were arrested in connection with the E320 000 robbery at Hhelehhele is wanted by the police in his home country.

This had been disclosed by the local police in their opposing affidavit after the suspect, Sibusiso Nhleko of KaNyamazane, filed an application for bail at the High Court.

South African police are reported to have already visited Swaziland after receiving information that Nhleko and his co-accused had been arrested.
The crimes, which Nhleko is wanted for in South Africa were, however, not disclosed in the court papers filed by the police. In his opposing papers, Detective Constable Mngomezulu, who is the investigator in the case, stated that Nhleko would attempt to evade trial in the event he was released on bail.
“I state that the app

licant (Nhleko) is also sought in the Republic of South Africa. Our counterparts in South Africa had already visited the country on investigating the applicant and his co-accused,” said Mngomezulu.
He said the refusal of bail by the court would be in the interest of justice.

“’May I state that admitting the applicant to bail will endanger public safety. The offence was committed using a firearm. Nhleko of KaNyamazane was allegedly found in possession of E120 000 near Matsamo after he was nabbed by soldiers while trying to cross to his home country.
In his application for bail filed by his lawyer Noncedo Ndlangamandla, Nhleko further claimed that he was innocent of the charges against him as he never committed the offences.
