MBABANE – A church in Mahlangatsha, known as the Church of God of Prophecy, has kicked out over 18 members from partaking in its services following allegations of adultery, drug abuse and ill-discipline.

The church members also alleged that some members were kicked out of the church for witchcraft.
These are allegations made by one of the members who were ordered to leave the church until such time they had changed their lives.

The church member (name withheld due to the sensitivity of the matter) in an interview with this publication, made startling allegations some of which may not be repeated due to their sensitivity.
She alleged that elders in the church, which is located at Mahlangatsha, had been insulting them and calling them names, stating that they were not desirable to be in the presence of the Lord.
She alleged that at some point, one of the church leaders referred to them as demons that were set to drag the name of the church through the mud.  “They said I was a demon and I was dating numerous people within the community,” she claimed. She noted that, however, this was a fallacy as it held no basis.

“I brought one of the people they had alleged I was seeing and when I sought answers, they told me that they would not engage him as he was not a church member but would deal with me instead,” she further said. She narrated that during one of the services, one of the senior church members had alleged that a certain male was being used by the devil to destroy the church. “They said he was sent by his mother to practise witchcraft and destroy the progress of the church.

This took us aback as we knew that the power we had was beyond any challenge the world may propel towards us,” the woman alleged.  The aggrieved church member stated that they had not reported the matter to the elders of the community as it was still fresh. She said they received letters last week informing them that there would be revivals at the church and they were supposed to attend. She said the letter instructed her to be at a church service on Sunday afternoon and she duly obliged.
“We are about 18 and we were informed that we were a disgrace thus we were no longer allowed to partake in the church’s events,”the member said. Upon receiving such news, she said they decided to continue partaking in the ongoing revivals. She noted that they had nowhere to go as the church was the only one that they knew within the community.
She further acknowledged that the group of 18 excommunicated  church members had a mixture of males and females. She said they were yet to regroup and engage the authorities.
