MBABANE –  Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 winner Mcebo Ginindza has been taken to court by his ex-wife Thembekile Magongo over the maintenance of their three children.

Ginindza made his appearance before Magistrate Philisiwe Simelane at the Mbabane Magistrates Court yesterday. Addressing the court on the matter, Magongo alleged that her ex- husband never supported the children even before they divorced.
She said she wanted at least E5 000 to cater for the children’s needs. Asked if her former husband would afford E5 000, she said judging from his statuss he would afford.

However, in view of the circumstances, Simelane explained the differences between the maintenance and the other expenses required for children.
“Maintenance is separate from the other child’s needs like medical expenses and school-related fees. In maintenance, both parties contribute half towards the maintenance of their children,” Simelane said.

After the court’s explanation, Magongo said she wanted E2 000 for the maintenance of the three children. She informed the court that two of the children were paying E3 100 each per term for school fees. She said school fees for the youngest cost E3 300 per term. In response to his ex-wife, Ginindza said there were many reasons that had resulted in him not being able to support his children. He said one of the reasons was that he did not know where Magongo stayed with their children.
“I last saw my children in June last year before one of them visited me. It is not good for a man to live without knowing the whereabouts of his children,” he said.

As regards the school-related fees, Ginindza said Magongo never considered his recommendations when he recommended a school where he could afford the school fees.  He added that there was a lot that he needed to reveal to the court concerning the factors that resulted in him having difficulties in supporting his children.
Simelane stood down the matter and called the duo to meet her in her chambers for the continuation of the matter.
