NHLANGANO – Three rape suspects made a brazen escape from the Nhlangano Correctional Services facility over the weekend.

Police are now searching for a total of four rape suspects who are reported to have escaped from the same facility in less than two weeks.
Another rape suspect is reported to have made a daring escape at the Nhlangano Health Centre where he had been taken for treatment.
He is still at large, according to authorities.

The three inmates, who walked out of the Nhlangano Correctional facility, are said to have escaped from the facility on Saturday night, just after 7pm.

Details on how the suspects managed to elude warders who were on guard on the particular day were scanty yesterday. Also, it could not be immediately ascertained if the inmates came into contact with any civilian before they made the daring escape.
It was gathered that the inmates were wearing Correctional Services prisoners’ uniforms when they escaped.

It was reported that they had been present when a roll call was made earlier on but were missing after 7pm when another inspection was conducted.
Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, Police Deputy Information and Communications Officer, said police received a report from the Correctional Facility regarding the three prisoners that were unaccounted for when an inspection was made on Saturday night.

All the escaped inmates are considered to be a danger to the public. The suspects were still awaiting trial when they made the daring escape. Vilakati said if located, the public should not approach the suspects and instead they should notify the nearest police station.
