LOZITHA – His Majesty the King yesterday said anybody working closely with a King would always be pulled down by mischievous people.

The King said people would always look for faults in a person who advised or worked closely with a head of state.
His Majesty was speaking at Lozitha Palace during a prayer service to mark the beginning of the year.

Present during the prayer service were the King of Venda, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, emakhosikati to His Majesty King Mswati III, Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini, Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini, Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala, Sipho Makhabane, an award-winning gospel artist, cabinet ministers, Phindile Phoko, a noted member of the Joyous Celebration and other dignitaries.

His Majesty the King cited the case of Ahithopel of old, the most trusted advisor of ancient King David of Israel who ended up leading a revolt against David, which was orchestrated by the King’s son, Prince Absalom.
He said Ahithopel, the cherished and esteemed companion of David, was deceived by  the prince to plot against the King, and the most trusted King’s advisor had the support of Prince Absalom.
His Majesty recalled that Ahithopel forfeited his benefits and vast opportunities for being the companion of a King.

He said the plot to kill David failed.
The King said out of frustration, Ahithopel eventually hanged himself and died. He said the trusted King’s advisor harboured bitterness; hence he took part in the plot to assassinate the King.
He warned Swazis to deal with bitterness in a Godly manner.

He said people should cast their burdens and troubles to the Almighty God who cares for all people who come to him for help.
“If you work with a King, surely some people will be jealous of that and start devising strategies to remove you from close to him. They will start provoking you until you are bitter and you are bound to create problems for yourself if you harbour bitterness,” warned the King.

The King emphasised: “It’s a problem to live with a problem.”
