EXPECT CRIME WAVE IN CITY – EVICTED VENDORS

MBABANE – Some of the vendors who have been evicted from the Old Mbabane Bus Rank have warned that they will be left with no option but to turn to crime to earn a living.

The vendors said it would be justifiable for them to engage in crime because they had been left with no option.
They said to them, the evictions were like closing of a factory where they were employed. One vendor said he had stopped involvement in criminal activity after he got an opportunity to work at the Old Bus Rank.
“I am addicted so much that I cannot live without at least two beer bottles and cigarettes every day.  I had no problem with buying myself the alcohol because I was making money here. Engaging in criminal activities is justifiable now,” said one of the vendors who were found packing at the area yesterday afternoon.

The vendors said the Mbabane Municipal Council showed no sympathy towards them.
“Motsa told us yesterday that he would put a fence and whosoever entered his premises would be charged for trespassing,” said one of the vendors.

Sisangene nje usibona asati nekutsi sitawutfutsa ngani wona lamakhohlomba etfu ngoba Motsa usifuna siphume siphele lamuhla lapha,” added the vendors loosely translated as “you see us, we are confused about how to transport our belongings because Motsa wants us out today.” Yesterday was the last day for the vendors to remove their belongings at the Old Mbabane Bus Rank.

They got the last warning from the landowner, Moses Motsa on Wednesday, who told them that failure to vacate the land will result in them forfeiting their property as he was about the fence off the land.
