MANZINI – What was supposed to be a glamorous wedding ended on a sour note when a South African man stopped his wife’s secret marriage to a local pastor.

The dramatic wedding was set to take place at The Fellowship of God’s Holy Place in Manzini between 31-year-old bride-to-be, Phumzile Nosizo Nhlabatsi and Pastor Vuma Vilakati of the same church yesterday.
Minutes before walking down the aisle, Phumzile’s husband, Muzi Babsy Dlamini (41), with whom she entered into a civil marriage in 2006 in South Africa, turned up at the church brandishing a marriage certificate and pictures of their marriage in 2006.

He had been tipped by his in-laws about the wedding.
According to Phumzile’s husband, who works for one of the leading newspapers in South Africa under the marketing department, he on Wednesday accompanied her to the Park Station in Johannesburg to board a kombi into the country.
Dlamini said they were holding hands with his wife before she left. To his knowledge, Dlamini said his wife had come to the country to promote their magazine and not to marry another man.
“I was very shocked when my in-laws phoned me on Friday and informed me that my wife was getting married. I had to come to Swaziland to ascertain the news I had just received over the phone. We got married in 2006 and have a child born out of the marriage.

“There were no suspicions whatsoever that she was up to something as we have all along been in good terms with my wife. However, after she had left, I found a letter she had left which informed me that she was moving on with her life and thanked me for all I have done for her. Even after reading that letter, I never thought that she was to get married,” said Dlamini.

Dlamini said he informed his in-laws about the letter his wife had left and they said they were shocked. On Friday, they called me back and informed me that my wife was getting married. Upon arriving on the day of the wedding, Dlamini said he had a word with the pastor who was initiating the marriage.

After a brief discussion, the wedding was then stopped before Dlamini’s wife wedded Pastor Vilakati. Dlamini was also supported by his in-laws who expressed their shock by the actions of their daughter.  When asked about her actions, Phumzile Nhlabatsi yesterday alleged that she informed her husband she wanted out of the marriage.
