MBABANE – Head Teachers are worried about how the influx of Form I pupils in January will be dealt with.

The Vice President of the Swaziland Principals Association, Welcome Mhlanga, said this yesterday. He said the first group of children under the Free Primary Education would enrol for Form I next year.

He said they were receiving more applications than the previous year, and they were not sure how they would deal with the issue.
“As head teachers, we are greatly concerned about what will happen when schools open in January. We have written letters to the Ministry of Education asking them to meet with us over the issue and they have not come to the party,” Mhlanga said.

He said nothing had been communicated to them about the issue. He said they were already working on budgets for next year and they would not know how to deal with a situation where they were to be told to enrol more pupils at the last minute. Mhlanga said they had decided to hold an extraordinary meeting with all head teachers in the country. He said they would try to find a way to assist government in dealing with this issue.

You can only find such in Swaziland, FPE started in 2009, necessary arrangements were done, but no one ever thought the kids will reach 14 years and need secondary schools. We're approaching the end of November, the ministry's still dodging the issue. Kutobe kukhonjwa boheadteacher emehlweni when things go wrong
