SITEKI – Two traditional healers from Lukhetseni and Mambane have been detained by the police in connection with the murder of a man who was reported missing three weeks ago.

Magidi Mlambo, a Mozambican national, who was now residing in Swaziland, reportedly went missing from his home on September 26, 2015.
Following his disappearance, reports emerged alleging that he was last seen accompanying a local traditional healer to a forest.

However, the traditional healer refuted these allegations and insisted that he went alone to the forest on that particular day. Even during a community meeting on Saturday, where the disappearance of Mlambo was discussed, the traditional healer insisted on his innocence, while in the presence of his attorney.

But this publication understands that the traditional healer confessed to killing Mlambo during an interrogation by Siteki police on Sunday night.
It is further understood that after confessing, the traditional healer also told the police that he was with another traditional healer from Mambane when they allegedly killed Mlambo and then buried his body in the mountains situated near the Swaziland/Mozambique borderline.

It was gathered that after the traditional healer had confessed, police rounded up the other traditional healer and detained him.
Police are said to have then taken both traditional healers to the mountains to search for the body.

Names of both traditional healers are known to this publication but they will not be named for now because they haven’t appeared in court yet.
Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed that Siteki police have detained two traditional healers in connection with the murder of a man who was reported missing.
“They have not yet been charged but if police gather more evidence, the two suspects will be charged with murder,” said Mamba.

Meanwhile, by late yesterday, sources said police were still searching for the body in the mountains.
Mamba, the Police Information and Communications Officer, confirmed at around 6:45pm yesterday that the body of the missing man had not yet been found and that police were still searching.
It is not the first time that traditional healers from Mambane and surrounding areas have been accused of murder. Early this year, residents of Mambane torched a homestead belonging to a traditional healer and a chief’s inner council member, whom they accused of having had a hand in the disappearance of a man who went missing early last year.
They are currently out on bail and the matter is still pending in court.
