MBABANE – A former Administrative Assistant at  First National Bank (FNB) Swaziland, who was dismissed from work after she was found guilty of neglect of duties, is demanding over E100 000 as compensation for alleged unfair dismissal

The former employee, Nomsa Motsa, alleges that she was unfairly dismissed.
It was alleged that various business electronic cards were linked using her employee number to Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) Co-Operative Society accounts and these cards were subsequently used to perpetrate fraud totalling to E685 572.16 and attracting bank charges totalling to E2 370.

She was also found guilty of negligently or knowingly failing to carry out security precautions or allowing unauthorised access to  systems of the bank, in that on July 14-15, 2012 various fraudulent changes were made on SNAT’s account profile using her employee number.
In her application for determination of unresolved dispute, Motsa stated she was employed as an administration assistant by FNB on November 7, 2012.

She submitted that upon being employed, she diligently executed her duties without any break in the service until August 2013 when she was charged and invited for a hearing.Motsa stated that the notice of hearing further set out the charges which she was to face.

She said the charges were as follows: Loss suffered by the bank through the neglect of duty, disregard of its rules and procedures and negligently and knowingly failing to carry out security precautions by allowing unauthorised access to assets and systems of the bank.
These are allegations contained in court documents whose veracity is still to be further tested in court.
Motsa was found guilty and subsequently dismissed from work.
