MBABANE – Seemingly an unfortunate scenario has unfolded at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee meeting in London as Zombodze Emuva Member of Parliament Titus Thwala has allegedly been excused from representing the southern region.

Thwala left the country on Thursday afternoon together with Speaker Themba Msibi for London where they were expected to represent the southern region of the CPA. However, the Times Investigations Desk has established that only Msibi was allowed to be part of the meeting.

There has been no available reason as to why Thwala was excused from the meeting even though there are claims that the letter which invited him for the meeting came from the CPA Secretariat.

Attempts to get a comment from Thwala hit a snag yesterday as his cellphone was switched off for the better part of the day. He also did not respond to an SMS from this publication. He is said to be in London.

Sources in London could neither deny nor confirm if Thwala was excused from the meeting. They referred questions to the Clerk to Parliament.
However, Msibi told this publication that there were only two people representing the southern region of CPA.
He said these were him and Thandi Modise.

Modise is the Chairperson of the National Council of the Province in South Africa.
Msibi explained that he and Modise were representing Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland.

“There are only two representatives here who are representing the southern region of the CPA; that is the Speaker of the House of Assembly of Swaziland who is the Honourable Themba Msibi and Thandi Modise, the Chairperson of the National Council of the Province in South Africa. We are representing Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland.
