MANZINI – It has been alleged that the late Luciano Zavale and a police officer identified as Myeni had clashed over a woman before his death.

This was alleged by Armando Zavale, who was narrating his knowledge of the events leading to the sudden death of his brother Luciano, who died while being interrogated by police officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Armando was responding to questions from his attorney Leo Gama who wanted to know from him if the deceased knew the police officer, Myeni, who arrested him for the stolen tablet before the incident.

Armando responded to the affirmative to Gama’s question. The lawyer then questioned him on how he knew that Luciano and Myeni knew each other, and Armando narrated that his brother’s lover affair with a certain woman, whom he referred to as a girl, made them know each other.
These are allegations which were made before the commission of inquiry whose veracity is yet to be tested.

The witness alleged that the two had previously had altercations and narrated an incident involving the girl, which was handled by the police officer.
“Myeni had a problem with Luciano,” Armando alleged.
He alleged that the relationship with the girl, whose name was not mentioned during the inquiry, was the source of his brother’s troubles with the police. According to the witness, Luciano once called the girl while she was in the company of her lover. “The man was very angry after the call as he had previously forgiven the same girl for being involved with my brother,” Armando submitted.
