MANZINI – A 24-year-old woman has been admitted to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital after being mauled by over 10 dogs in Matsapha.

The woman, Nozipho Tsela of Mankayane, said the incident occurred last Friday evening while she was walking to her rented flat at Kahlobile, Matsapha.

She stated that when she walked past the unfenced Maziya homestead, where the vicious dogs were kept, they attacked and bit her several times, biting chunks of her flesh from the thighs, legs, arms and bums.

“I had gone to visit my friend, who is a neighbour. We had a few alcoholic drinks on the said night and upon my return, when passing the homestead to my home, over 10 dogs came out and attacked me, biting and literally eating chunks of my flesh. I screamed and no one came to my rescue. I could see and feel the dogs eating me up until I passed out.

When I woke up, I found myself in hospital and I was informed that I had been brought here by an ambulance which had been called by community members,” Tsela said.
She stated that everyone in the community was aware that the homestead had vicious dogs, however, she did not think she would be a victim of such a terrible ordeal.

“I could smell death, especially because there was no one who came to my rescue at the time I was still conscious. I am still traumatised by the incident and if I was not this big, I would have been dead.
