MANZINI – One of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Prince Ncabeni admitted in court yesterday that he pulled the trigger and shot the prince after he had been allegedly ordered to do so by his boss.

Carlos Nyampira (20) of Mozambique was arrested with his brother, Paito (19) and Bandile Mbhekeni Khumalo (25) of Mhlaleni.
The three arrived in court accompanied by officers from the Serious Crimes Unit (LUKHOZI) for confessions before different magistrates, who included Senior Magistrate Joe Gumedze.

Reliable sources revealed that during the confession, Paito informed the court that he had been instructed by his boss to shoot the prince, whose body was found lying next to the road at Nhlambeni.
Paito is said to have claimed that his boss had hired the taxi from Mbabane and when he got to Manzini, he ordered him to board the vehicle and they drove off to Nhlambeni.
Along the way, Paito said the boss drew the pistol and ordered him to shoot the prince.

“I shot him in the head and he lost control of the car and when it eventually stopped, we dragged him out of the car and left him lying in the middle of the road.
“We then took the car to the nearest river where it was thoroughly washed as it had a pool of blood,” the Mozambican national said.

It could not, however, be ascertained who the alleged boss was but investigations by this publication revealed that the suspect was referring to his co-accused, Khumalo, who is alleged to have hired Ncabeni’s taxi on the day.
Information gathered was that the 9mm pistol allegedly used by the suspects to shoot the prince was stolen from a Ford van that had gone to a car wash belonging to Khumalo.

The suspects were charged with six counts including murder, robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and contravening the Arms and Ammunitions Act. The Mozambican nationals were further charged with contravening the Immigration Act.
The trio later appeared before Magistrate Dumisa Mazibuko’s chambers for a remand hearing, where they were remanded until August 5, 2015, pending committal to the High Court.
When asked if they would hire the services of an attorney or conduct their own defence during trial at the High Court, all the suspects informed the court that they would represent themselves.
