MANZINI - The Manzini Metropolitan Evangelical Church (MMEC), which is under the stewardship of Reverend Kaizer Fakudze, needs E8.8 million to complete its church structure.
The incomplete structure is situated at Fairview, a few metres away from Mthunyelelwa Shopping Complex.

National Police Commissioner Isaac Magagula, a church elder, disclosed that a sum of E16 million had already been used in constructing the present structure, which is still incomplete.
This means that the church will cost close to E25 million on completion.

Speaking during the church’s fund-raising dinner held inside the incomplete structure on Friday night, Magagula mentioned that they requested the Manzini Municipal Council to allow the church to use the incomplete building to accommodate worshipers.

“The council graciously acceded to our request, and in August 2013, we started congregating in this facility and held a mini dedication service during which we resolved to complete all the outstanding works in a year’s time, that is July 2014, a target we were not able to meet due to militating factors that included financial challenges,” he said.
Magagula said despite the setbacks, they envisage that the project would be completed by July 2016.

Breaking down the E8.8 million, Magagula said it would cover both interior and exterior remaining works.
He mentioned that they would need E1.5 million for flooring, E2.5 million for the ceiling, E1.5 million for air conditioning system, E1 million for cladding and painting; E2.5 million for furniture (500 chairs) E0.5 million for landscaping and E0.3 million for fire fighting system.

“Though these projections may appear exorbitant to the faint of heart, we have faith that God, who gives us power to make wealth, will also enable us to raise the requisite finances to see this noble project completed.
“Therefore, come rain or shine, in July 2016 the church will be officially opened because if God is for us we can do all things,” the national commissioner of police said.

He pointed out that they were looking forward to the building’s completion as it would stand out as a state-of-the-art edifice in this community, while contributing to infrastructural development in the country.
He described the would-be completed structure to be ‘Vision 2022 compliant’.
