MANZINI – The Royal Swaziland Police Service is once again being accused of brutality.
This time, a 58-year-old dagga farmer has lost his speech and is in hospital with severe bruises after being allegedly kicked and sprayed with a chemical used to destroy dagga plants.

The farmer was stripped naked, assaulted and left for dead – his family has claimed.
King Mavimbela (58) is currently admitted to Mkhuzweni Health Centre and he is said to have been unconscious when found by his girlfriend lying in his destroyed dagga fields at Madelezini near Ndlalambi at 9am on Sunday.

The dagga fields had just been destroyed by a team of police officers from Swaziland and South Africa.
Madelezini is nestled in a thick forest near Buhleni and the nearest bus station is Ndlalambi.

Mavimbela’s alleged attack comes after he had left his house located at Madelezini the previous day and said he was going to tend to his dagga field. He was found wet allegedly because of the chemical used to kill dagga plants and his entire field  was completely destroyed.

According to his girlfriend, identified as LaShongwe, who was the first person to arrive at the incident scene, she went to look for her lover after he took too long to return home.

“I wondered why he was taking so long returning my buckets as I needed them and when I went to the fields to look for him, I was met with his still form lying naked on the ground.” She said when she tried to talk to him, he did not respond and she immediately ran back to her house to ask for help from neighbours.
