BISHOP: HE WHO USES SNAKES WORKS FOR DEVIL
MBABANE – Swaziland Conference of Churches President Bishop Steven Masilela said anyone who used a snake was doing the work of the devil.
Bishop Masilela has also warned the nation to be on guard against false prophets.
Speaking during the radio programme ‘Letishisako’ yesterday, Masilela said it was unfortunate that there were still people rushing for miracles yet it resulted in them surrendering to demons.
The bishop was interviewed following the widespread news that there was a prophet who was commanding the power of snakes to work on congregants in South Africa.
It is said, as a result of the command, the congregants were seen slithering on the floor.
Asked about the act, Masilela said as far as he read the Bible, a snake symbolised the devil.
He wondered what relationship a serpent could have with man. The bishop quoted Genesis 3: which reads: “Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had created.”
Masilela said the snake was the devil himself but did not want to be recognised when deceiving Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
“The serpent was also described as a dragon and the devil in the book of Revelations, which reads: “And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and satan, and bound him for a thousand years.”
Masilela said it was clearly stated in the Bible that at the end of time many would appear calling themselves Christ.
