LUBHUKU – Fourteen-year old traditional healer Bongekile Shiba has attributed the success of a number of people at work and football teams to her work.

Bongekile graduated into a fullyfledged inyanga about a month ago at Lubhuku and under her educator, Mahambayedwa Vilane. The Enjabulweni Primary school pupil juggles schoolwork and attending to clients of all types seeking healing, looking for jobs and promotions at work. However, it required consultation with the ancestors so that she could be allowed to attend school. After her graduation, she was christened Mahloshempala.

According to her guardian, Mahambayedwa, who also trained her to becoming a fully fledged traditional healer until graduation, she would have gone mad had she rejected the ancestral spirits. Mahambayedvwa also operates a traditional healers training school at her home.

“However, she is still of school-going age and I saw it proper that she attends school just like all other children her age. We consulted with and begged her ancestors to allow her to go to school even though she is now a traditional healer. I am glad that we received cooperation from the school and they welcomed her back after graduation.”

Mahloshempala said she dreamed of becoming a teacher once she completes her education. She said her favourite subject was English language. She said being a traditional healer at her age did not mean anything to her school mates.
“Other pupils do not discriminate against me. I play all types of games with other girls at school. I used to be disturbed by the spirits at school before I graduated, but things are back to normal now,” she said.  She said she did not perform well in class in the first term because the ancestral spirits kept her away from school, but said she had been performing well ever since she returned and said she would pass at the end of the year.

Bantfwabaketfu, I think we need a prayer, honestly. How can such a young teenager become a sangoma? She is still young shem, she needs education and she has plans about her life. I rebuke this spirit in Jesus name, Amen. Shwele Baba bantfwabetfu
