MBABANE – The Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA) has impounded four  undeclared helicopters belonging to a company after extensive and lengthy investigations.

The action was taken against the owners of the company that will not be named at the moment pending further investigations and action by the SRA.
One of the four helicopters was transported by a horse and trailer truck last night around 8:10pm from Mhlambanyatsi along the Mbabane-Manzini Highway.

The helicopters are said to have entered Swaziland without paying tax, which by extension means they were not properly declared.
As the helicopters were being transported along the highway a white Isuzu double cab bearing clear logos of SRA followed the the truck which would often seem to struggle to pass under overhead bridges because of clearance concerns regarding the helicopter’s height.

It could not be established at the time of going to press how much the four helicopters owed in tax.
Insiders within the company said three of the helicopters were mostly used in firefighting sessions.
The helicopters were brought into the country about three years ago.

The real owners of the company are based in the Republic of South Africa but will not be named at the moment because they could not contacted for comment.
The helicopters were brought to Swaziland by previous owners of the company.

A source, who refused to be named, said, “We have taken away the helicopter around Mhlambanyatsi and we shall keep it in Matsapha.
“there are pending issues that involve a number of these helicopters.”
