EZULWINI – Reverend David Chaliyumba has left the Christian Life Centre after a marriage that has lasted 14 years.

News of Chaliyumba’s departure from one of Swaziland’s most popular churches will come with huge interest from the large following that the man of God had established in the country as he is one of the leading clergymen in the country.

Chaliyumba has been a popular figure as the church enjoyed a regular slot in the Swaziland Television Authority (STVA) where the church has a religious programe.

The reverend is now running a church under the name Destiny International Christian Church which fellowships at the Greyhound in Ezulwini.
Chaliyumba confirmed his departure and explained it as a choice as he did not renew his contract which had since expired.
He said he was leading the church on contract basis, which was reviewable after every three years.

“I decided not to renew the contract that was due for renewal, in order to concentrate on Destiny International Christian Center. The congregation is aware as the formal announcement has been made in the church.
“As the founder of Destiny International Christian Center I believe it is a positive move. Thank you once again and blessings,” he said.
Chaliyumba said this was a summary of the answers to the eight questions that had been asked by this reporter regarding his move.

New

The new church started having its services a couple of weeks ago and has since launched services dubbed ‘Power Encounter’.
Chaliyumba described his exit as a positive and peaceful one.
“When I joined that church I went through a door and I have come out the right way.
Walter Dlamini, the Secretary General of the International Ministries Assemblies of God, confirmed that Chaliyumba has left the Christian Life Centre.

“He was working on contract basis at Eveni and now he has started a church in Ezulwini. We have engaged in talks over this and he was released to focus on the church in Ezulwini.”

Dlamini was reluctant to give further details and said they had a meeting scheduled for next week with Chaliyumba where they were going to deliberate on certain issues related to the current move and how the new church would position itself.

“Another thing is that normally, we do not duplicate the church names. That is what we do when one starts other churches,” he said.
He made an example that he was also a leader of a church based in Big Bend but he has not named it with the home church, which is the Great Christian Fellowship
Dlamini would not disclose information on who would be taking over from Reverend Chaliyumba.
The Christian Life Centre has branches in Mbabane, Convention centre and Manzini.

It has also been revealed that Chaliyumba will be focusing on the church project in Ezulwini fully after officially ending his 14-year stay at the popular church.
