I PAID MILLIONS TO MINISTERS, OFFICIAL – EX-SALGAOCAR BOSS
MBABANE – Scathing allegations have been made against current and former ministers by shareholder of former Salgaocar, Shanmuga Rethenam, popularly known as Shan.
He claims to have paid millions of emalangeni to certain government officials as a handshake for various favours.
Shan was a shareholder of Salgaocar, which later became to be known as SG Iron Ore Mining, prior to its closure in Swaziland.
Shan is the one who first won an application in court to get the King’s jet attached in Canada while it had gone for routine maintenance.
He claimed to have given the money to current and former ministers and a certain official from the King’s Office.
He alleged that he once paid tuition fees in South Africa for a Cabinet minister who was pursuing studies in that country and also gave the minister E40 000 cash.
This money was allegedly sent to the minister’s office.
In another allegation, Shan claimed to have bought a top of the range sport utility vehicle and further built a house for a high ranking official at the King’s Office.
He alleged that he bought an expensive Samsung Plasma television set, which was delivered at the Matsapha International Airport to be used in the office of this particular person.
Another minister is alleged to have received E3 million from Shan and this money came in two instalments.
The minister is alleged to have first received E2 million from Shan and later received E1 million, making the total amount from Shan E3 million.
