MBABANE – Private Investigator Zweli Dlamini got more than what he had bargained for when a man he was interrogating at night drove away with him for 10 kilometres.

Dlamini was working on a case of suspected adultery where he was collecting evidence of a man who was cheating with his client’s wife at Mvutshini. He said on the fateful day of January 2015, his team went to Mvutshini after getting a tip that the man would be visiting the wife.

“When we got there we recorded every- thing and even went into the house to take more video clips and pictures for the purposes of presenting them to our client as evidence.”
He said at that moment the man ran into his car, which was parked outside, and prepared to drive away.

Dlamini said the man had difficulty driving his car through as his team had deliberately parked their car in the way to block the man’s car from driving away.
“I then opened the door to the man’s car and sat on the passenger seat and started questioning him about his presence there and his relationship with my client’s wife. Just as I was talking he drove away with me through an alternative space and did not tell me where he was taking me to.”

Dlamini said since it was in the middle of the night he began to fear for the worst as the man did not even utter a word to him to indicate his intentions.
“He only made calls to a number of people whom he invited to meet him at a place he would not mention, further instilling fear in me,” alleged Dlamini.
The PI, who has been involved in some controversy of late, said the man parked his car adjacent to the Lobamba Police Station staff houses where he invited him for talks.

Demanded

Dlamini said the man refused to have any conversation with him and demanded to be returned to the initial scene.
He further said, “He drove me back to Mvutshini and dropped me there. I went to report a case of abduction at the Ezulwini Police Post but they did not press any charges against him and they advised me that there were no elements of criminality in the whole incident.”

Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the matter and said the police did not make any arrest regarding the matter. He said the case was forwarded to the office of the DPP for advice.
