MBABANE – The Law Society of Swaziland says there is only one head of government in Swaziland and it is the Prime Minister Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini.

The body for all admitted attorneys in the country, says it is Dlamini’s duty to be concerned when things are not going right in one arm of government or department. It was reacting to the recent spat between the prime minister and the Chief Justice Michael Ramodibedi, concerning government’s refusal to allow the latter to travel to his home country for the inauguration of new Prime Minister, Pakalitha Mosisili.

It was reported that Ramodibedi had asked that his security be beefed up for the trip because he wanted immunity against legal proceedings.
The Law Society of Swaziland’s Secretary General Nkosinathi Manzini, speaking to the Times SUNDAY, said there are problems in the Judiciary and it is Dlamini’s duty to be concerned about it, by virtue of being the head of government.

“There are problems within the Judiciary and the prime minister is trying to sort out those issues as head of government. It should be noted that he has been commenting about the issues when asked about them. He cannot say there are no problems when they are visible,” Manzini said.
The prime minister, speaking to journalists on his return from Lesotho, said it was surprising that a person could ask for protection when going to his home country.

In response, Registrar of the High Court Fikile Nhlabatsi, issued a statement denying Dlamini’s statements and saying the prime minister was misleading the nation.
