MBABANE – As the Easter holidays draw near, Christians are in for a shock from the League of African Churches.

President of the league Bishop Samson Hlatjwako has advised drivers not to allow people to alight in places like Mhlaleni to relieve themselves. He said there were people abusing the gesture by government of providing trucks to ferry Christians going to national Easter services.

Hlatjwako said it had come to their attention that some ride government trucks meant for people going to the National Church at Lobamba to avoid paying high fees from Nhlangano to Manzini. He said they wanted order that was why they decided to go to SBIS to inform truck drivers not to stop at Mhlaleni.

“The league has since realised that a number of people from the Shiselweni region pretend that they are attending the national Easter services that are usually held at Lobamba yet they just want transport to their various churches.
“Some of these people have gone to the extent of buying white overcoats that they take off immediately the alight from the trucks and put the coats in their bags.

“Once they are through with their church services they then go to Lobamba and move straight to the trucks even when the King is still preaching. This time around we will be on the look-out for such people.

“They will no longer fellowship in their different churches at government’s expense and then quickly leave their churches to go and sit on trucks meant to transport Christians back to Shiselweni.

“They manage to do that because they break early in their churches then go to Lobamba to wait for the trucks to take them back home after the main service.
