FINALLY, FEDERATIONS CAN NOW REGISTER

MBABANE – The long wait for the registration of federations is now over as the Ministry of Labour and Social Security has announced that they could now register.

‘The catch’, though is that those who wish to register should produce audited statements of the unregistered federations since their inception. Some of the organisations have been in existence for over 10 years.
amendment

Last year, all federations were ordered to cease operations to allow for the amendment of the Industrial Relations Act.
These included the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA), Federation of Swazi Business Community (FESBC) and the Federation of Swaziland Employers and Chamber of Commerce (FSE&CC).

The federations had been part of government’s tripartite alliance which consisted of government, workers and employers’ representatives. At the time, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security announced that this was done to accommodate new clauses or provisions for the registration of federations in the kingdom.

Yesterday, Winnie Magagula, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, said all those who wished to apply for registration as federations were invited to do so.

Magagula made the announcement during a press conference held at the ministry yesterday.
She said this was done as per the provision of the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act 2014.

Well done parliament the budget freeze has done the trick, making insolently ministers spring back to action again. And ti frustrate the federations she is calling for audited accounts for decades for institutions that never existed at law just to get back to the leaders of those organizations like Jan. Our constitution doesn't allow passage of legislation whose implementation is retroactive. Somebody
stop her she is trying to bring confusion as always.
