MBABANE – A cumulative number of 1 653 personnel were put on antiretroviral therapy at the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF) Medical Department.

This is according to the annual performance report of the Ministry of National Defence and Security for the financial year 2014/2015.
The facility is said to have drawn too many clients from all over the country and the total attended at the clinic was 74 678 clients for acute and chronic illnesses.

It was said 80 per cent of these were civilians while the rest were military personnel.
The report stated that pulmonary tuberculosis remained a public health issue in Swaziland and in the USDF, hence the integration of TB/HIV/ART programme.

“From the statistics, it has been observed that respiratory infection has the highest percentage (30 per cent of clients) attended, which is 21 710 of the total,” the report stated.
It said a cumulative number of people, who were put on ART in 2014/2015 at the facility, was 1 653 and 9 074 were the number of people given clotrimazole.

Meanwhile they get the highest budget in the country.Such skewed, leadership/government. The only battle this army have to fight is HIV/AIDS and then rest must be deployed somewhere in Somalia or Iraq for Peace Keeping missions.
