MBABANE – When Government’s budget means spending more on less, MultiChoice has announced a price increase on all DStv subscriptions. The new prices show an increment of nine per cent.

This was revealed by MultiChoice Swaziland General Manager Phumi Drummond.
She highlighted that this was an increase necessitated by increases in the business operational costs such as satellite rentals, channel costs, as well as exchange rate movements against the US Dollar.

“Unfortunately, it is necessary to review our prices on an annual basis due to rising costs to the business. In determining a price increase, MultiChoice takes into account many factors including the impact on the subscriber, inflation, and efficiencies effected within the company that may offset the necessity for a price increase. Our pricing reflects the cost of doing business and the necessary return on capital in order to ensure a world class, reliable and sustainable pay television service.”

She explained that at MultiChoice they strived to continuously improve their services and product offering by providing their subscribers with the best home entertainment and viewer experience supported by great subscriber management services.

“MultiChoice offers a range of bouquets each with a unique selection of family entertainment options.  The DStv Premium, DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact, DStv Family and DStv Access bouquets are available at varying price points ranging from as little as E 120.00per month which allow subscribers flexibility in price and choice without compromising quality or variety.”

“As an added value to our DStv Premium PVR subscribers, DStv enables subscribers to catch up on a selection of their favourite TV series, movies and sporting highlights for up to 7 days after their first broadcast on DStv. This is a rip-off. I will never subscribe to the local DsTV, ever. What they charge E120 here its R28 in South Africa, the difference is too wide. Besides, South African channels offer a variety of their local content, which we can relate to, unlike watching the local offer which does not have local content.
