ZION PRIEST CHARGED FOR VALENTINE’S RAPE
MANZINI – A day before Valentine’s Day, a Zion priest allegedly strangulated, assaulted and later raped two women on the same night. One of the women is said to be his girlfriend.
The pastor, Nathi Ncence Khumalo (29) of Lamgabhi, was eventually arrested by the police and he made an appearance before Magistrate Mthokozisi Dlamini. On January 13, 2015, at about 9:30pm, the pastor allegedly raped a woman whom he had found walking along the roadside.
He is said to have approached her and promised to walk her home. Along the way, he is said to have dragged her to a nearby bush and strangulated her.
Khumalo is alleged to have further assaulted the woman *Mary (21) with open hands on the face before raping her. The charge sheet states that the rape offence is accompanied by aggravating factors in that the said pastor did not use protection during the commission of the offence thus exposing the complainant to the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS.
After the incident, the woman reported the matter at Bhunya Police Station and identified the said pastor whom she knew from the area. After allegedly raping *Mary, the pastor is said to have proceeded home, at Mhlabubovu, where his alleged girlfriend, *Sihle (20), who is a caretaker of a well-known local gospel musician, was. *Sihle revealed that she had visited the said pastor for the first time after meeting him through Facebook and they had made an agreement not to have sexual intercourse before marriage.
However, during the visit, the pastor is alleged to have became violent and allegedly assaulted her with open hands before pinning her against the bedroom wall, raping her in the process without her consent.
