MBABANE – Mater Dolorosa (MDS), Oslo, and Ngomane High Schools are among the schools whose Swaziland General Certificate in Secondary Education (SGSCE) results have been withheld.

The other schools’ results were released on Tuesday by the Examinations Council of Swaziland (ECoS).
It could not be established why the results have been withheld as the Examinations Council was still investigating.

Other schools include KaBoyce High in Mbabane as well as Lusoti High School in Simunye. KaBoyce is popular for excelling in both the Junior Certificate (JC) and Form V Examinations, while Lusoti is famous for winning the Junior Achievement (JA) competition in Swaziland. Last year, only two schools had their results withheld. Most head teachers of the affected schools, when contacted, claimed not to be aware that their results had been withheld. However, some said the Examinations Council had contacted them but they had not informed them of the development.

John Ngwenya, the head teacher of MDS High School, sounded surprised when called for comment about his school’s results. He said he was not aware of the results being withheld but would consult with the regional education officer (REO).

Ngwenya said he had not been informed on anything about the results and as to whether the school was being investigated. The school’s centre number, 413, was not listed among the schools whose results had been released. Ngwenya, however, said there were many reasons why the results could be withheld. He said another reason could be that some learners may have changed subjects instead of writing only those they had paid for. He said he would know exactly what was happening with his school’s results today. Mpolonjeni High School is also another school whose results were not released by yesterday.

Meanwhile, Pilato Vilane, the Head teacher of Lubombo Central High School in Siteki, said he was not aware that his school’s results had been withheld. He said he would have more information today.
Dr Edmund Mazibuko, the Registrar of the Examinations Council said he would not comment on the details of results which have been withheld. “Let’s not talk about schools which are being investigated,” he said.
