MBABANE – The head office of the company, which was awarded a tender to build an oil reserve facility valued at about E900 million, says it only recognises its sister company in Swaziland.
The local company is registered as Kantey and Templer Swaziland (Pty) Ltd.

This is the only company that the headquarters of Kantey & Templer (Pty) Ltd says it recognises.
Directors of this company are Mondli Nxumalo, Mphilo Ciniso Dlamini and Bongani George Mdluli are directors of the company.
The oil reserve facility will be built at Phuzamoya near KaMkhweli in the Lubombo region. Last week, Parliament deferred the E900 million guarantee loan. The guarantee loan was only approved on Thursday after the Speaker had called MPs to reconvene as a matter of urgency.

In a letter dated December 13, 2014, Gavin Theron, a director and shareholder of Kantey & Templer South Africa, informed Thembinkosi Motsa, the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, that the E900 million guaranteed Bill should be worded to the favour of the Swaziland registered company.

This letter was an update of the previous one dated December 12, 2014, written to Motsa, denying knowledge of any company styled Kantey & Templer Swaziland (Pty) Ltd.
“It has come to our attention that a company called Kantey & Templer Swaziland (Pty) Ltd has been registered in Swaziland. This company has been registered without our knowledge and has no connections or relationship whatsoever to Kantey & Templer (Pty) Ltd, the South African registered company with registration number 1966/09839/07,” the letter dated December 12, 2014 read.

Correcting the above statement, Theron had to write another letter the following day, dated December 13, 2014 which reads: “Our letter of December 12, 2014, was written following us receiving reports that there were other groupings of people who were trying to hijack the project.”
