MBABANE – The Land Management Board (LMB) will demolish structures of residents of Bhadzeni I and Luyengweni if they do not vacate the area within six months.

The residents, according to the LMB, were illegally allocated land on wetlands, grazing land and ploughing fields.
It could not be immediately established how many homesteads will be affected.

Clement Dlamini, who is the Chairman of the Board, said the LMB has, among many functions, the significant duty of ensuring that communal settlement plans (luhleliso) were observed.

Dlamini, speaking during a press conference at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy conference room, said while the LMB was executing its duties, it discovered that some communities did not abide by the communal settlement plans or maps. Dlamini, who was with the Members of the Board: Prince Ngangabani, Prince Mabizela, Thandi Maziya and Senior Rural Development Officer Meshack Fakudze, said while executing their duties, the authorities and subjects of Bhadzeni I and Luyengweni communities in the Manzini region, were on a number of occasions between 2009- 2014, instructed by the LMB that ‘allocations should be done in strict adherence with the communal settlement plans or maps.’
He said: “Any person or homestead already misallocated on either grazing land, wetlands or ploughing fields or another, should forthwith stop further construction and, in fact, such structures should be demolished.”

demolished

The LMB, through Dlamini, notified the nation and communities of Bhadzeni I and Luyengweni, that all homesteads and structures identified as being allocated in violation of the plans and maps should forthwith be demolished.
