UNHAPPY WITH TOWN BOARD OF EZULWINI

Sir,

On September 4, 2014 we received a letter from the Ezulwini Town Board informing us that our road would be closed between 8am to 4pm on September 5, 2014, as the contractor would be spraying the road’s surface with a primer. On the Friday morning my wife spoke to the foreman asking if she would be able to drive on it after 5pm as that would be the time she would be arriving home. She says the foreman assured her that it would not be a problem.

When my wife arrived home at 5:30pm, she drove very slowly to our house.
Upon arrival at the house she noticed that her new car was covered in primer. She then spent over an hour trying to clean it. Our garage floor is now also covered in the primer. I know that it is not only my wife’s car that has been damaged!

When I returned, I reported this to the town board and insisted on having a meeting again with the engineer at 7am on September 9.
I was also informed by the inspector of works from the Ezulwini Town Board that the street lights that were part of this project had been taken out, as this project was being funded by an outside source.
At 1:30pm that day, I took my wife home from the office, only to find that our road was once again blocked off with trucks and they were not happy about moving them. They were now laying the topping for the road, a process for which we were not notified about.

The following day I had to use one of my bigger cars as the Mercedes was damaged and parked on the road outside our house as there was no way I could drive it into my property, until I managed to get it checked out.
In the morning I received a call from somebody at the town board telling me to move my car, I informed him that I couldn’t as it was damaged due to the ongoing work.
Then a police officer from Lobamba Traffic Section called, requesting the same. I informed him of the same situation. He then requested me to call the CEO of the town board; I told him the CEO must contact me which he did not.
The mayor of Ezulwini called me asking the same. After I had explained the situation, she said she would enquire and get back to me.
Unfortunately I only managed to go home to sort out my vehicle at about 12:30pm.

When the mayor called the town board she was told that I could not have met with the engineer as he was out of the country.  So who did I meet with?
I arrived home to find my car gone and when the mayor said she had no information about what may have happened to it I then called Lobamba Police Station to report it stolen.
When I gave my car details to the police they then informed me that my car was parked outside their station and requested me to go and identify it.
I showed them pictures of where my car was parked, and it clearly showed I was not blocking anything.

I then told them that I wanted the town clerk arrested for car theft or at least taking my car without my permission or knowledge.
I have had to leave my car at the police station as it cannot be driven due to the damage caused. Up to now nobody has contacted me regarding having my car repaired!
I have been complaining about all these issues to the town board, but I have had no assistance from anybody there.

G, F Barlow, Ezulwini
