THE POWER OF WORKING TOGETHER
Sir,
The IMF, AFDB and the World Bank forecasted that our economy could continue to be the slowest in the SADC region due to many factors.
Such as high telecommunications charges, poor investor protection, high costs of starting a business, high transport charges, labour unrest, lack of proper mechanisms to facilitate equal distribution of wealth and lastly poor governance or lack of democracy.
Concerned
As a concerned individual I cannot dispute these above mentioned reasons and I believe these international bodies did not just create these concerns, they came to such conclusions after studying the situation in the country very carefully and perhaps engaging experts.
What about our wage bill? Reports also stated it was the highest in the region apart from South Africa.
Opportunities
We were advised to spend more money on capital projects because this would create more job opportunities. What about shares?
They said government ought to stop having shares everywhere as this inconvenienced potential businessmen.
The last point was that both public and private sectors should work hand in hand and stop pointing fingers at each other for the betterment of the kingdom.
Peter Sibeko,
Luyengo
