EMPOWER PEOPLE TO SEE VISION 2022

Editor,

Allow me to take this opportunity to challenge every citizen in the country, working or not.
People must die because their time had come not just because we are unable to provide them with medical care. I am talking about the shortage of essential medicines and equipment in government hospitals and clinics.
Why must we suffer and die because we want to reach First World?

True, I don’t have evidence to substantiate what I am saying as I am only drawing my conclusions from what has been appearing in the media regarding this topic.
The late Wangar Maathai once said; “You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect”.

Creation

Everything is falling apart in the country. People do not have clean water, poor roads, there is no job creation and thousands are without jobs and those with jobs are treated like slaves. The truth is that they contribute to the economy of the country. Yet it is the worst when it comes to paying workers. Everything is hiking; transport fares have significantly increased, food prices have also shot up, essential services like water and electricity have also been granted tariff increases.

With all these costs and no salary increase, I still have to on a daily basis travel to and from work and still have to support my family.
As it is I am forced to approach loan sharks for their services so that I can make ends meet. The country being removed from AGOA is not making things easy for the country. Everything is being increased, you name it.

Increments

The sad thing is that nothing happens when it comes to increments for civil servants. For some reason government also does not have money when workers request for an increase. The poor are getting poorer. As things stand, I wonder what will be left in the country and will we still have something to look forward too as citizens.
Are the jobs that we have going to sustain us for the year 2022? Are we going to have our own expertise by that year?

Will the issue of AGOA be addressed by that time? Will the issue of unemployment be addressed and the levels minimised?
The situation is not a good one. It is very sad and painful what we are seeing happening in our beloved country.
We should not only be thinking about those who are already employed. We should be thinking about those who don’t have jobs and how we can get them off the streets. They also need to be looked after as they are citizens of this country
