TRUTH IS SEEN AS A HINDRANCE TO SUCCESS

Sir,

Is this not the time which Apostle Paul warned us about? A time when people will, among other things, ‘turn their ears away from the truth’? Is this really not the time reader? A time when people will not endure the soundness of truth; a time in which truth will be seen as a hindrance to success? Is this in fact not the time? “Preach the word; for there will come a time when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables,” 2 Timothy 4:2-4.

Gospel

These are words of an aged Apostle Paul written in a cold and lonely Roman prison at a time when his death for the gospel of Jesus Christ was imminent. Mankind never takes lightly the last words of a dying man. Paul had initially instructed Timothy, his own son in the faith, that ‘all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works’ (2 Timothy 3:16). Paul was now instructing Timothy to peach the Word regardless of the circumstances surrounding him.

Christ

This country needs the Word of God; not fables or moral lessons, however good they may be. This country needs Christ. He is the word of God. When John had a revelation at Patmos, heaven opened and he saw Jesus sitting on a white horse. He was clothed with vesture dipped in blood; and his name is called the Word of God (Rev.19:13). God gets things to happen through Christ, who is His Word.

God created the world through Jesus, and provided salvation in His name. Reader you need the Word of God for things to start happening in your life. Christ Himself needed the written word of God in times of trials and temptations. When the devil invited Jesus to worship him, Jesus said: “Get thee behind me Satan; for it is written. Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve,” Luke 4:8. And each time the devil tempted Jesus, He responded with the written word of God. As a believer of Jesus, I have done the same and escaped trials and temptations victoriously on countless occasions.

In times of trial we stand on the ground that we are born again children of God. We also counter- attack with the Word of our Father. We simply stand “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” Ephesians 6:17. Is this not awesome? The Spirit of God uses the Word of God in us as a sword to fight our battles! No word of God, no sword! The sword of the Spirit and helmet of salvation go together. You must be born again, and; “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him,” Isaiah 59:19. Take time to think about Jesus because He actually died for you.
