‘MUM, SON BRUTALLY MURDERED’

Sir,

Yesterday we woke up to news that a mother and her son were brutally killed by a man believed to be her boyfriend. It is alleged that this man stabbed them and further went on to slit their throats open. Such brutality is shocking.

If this story is not a sign that women bashing and killings have become a despicable national scourge, then nothing will ever be a sign. This is not funny anymore and has got to be stopped in its tracks.

A person who has been described as quiet and humble has lost her life, together with her child, because of hideous wounds allegedly inflicted on her by her so-called lover.

Suggestion

Even though my somewhat emotional suggestion may be met with contempt from some quarters, I feel that the castration of such brutes should be considered. By so doing, maybe, just maybe it can cull the testosterone in us males, which makes us behave deranged as if we are psychopaths It is a well known fact that the basic strength of a woman lies on the use of their tongues. But to go to such animal predatory lengths is abominable.

Perpetrator

Without appearing to preempt judgment against the perpetrator, I wish he rots on jail with the key thrown deep into the Indian Ocean. If as society we do not act urgently to find a solution and put a stop to these despicable and satanic traits on us male species, I tell you we will march into Vision 2022 minus our female species.

Bafowethu, this is not on. I call upon all real men to stand up and be counted and put a stop to this animal behaviour.

What legacy, if any, will we leave our male offspring if we will continue behaving like deranged  escaped psychopaths from a psychiatric asylum?

Anger management needs to be instilled at an early age among our male offspring. We cannot solve disputes by the use of any nearby and available weaponry. A national indaba on violence against women is needed and I actually demand it.

A Nxumalo
