A NATION IN TROUBLE

 Sir,

Opportunity plays a great role in political leadership. Over and over again political history has proven that when a nation is faced with monstrous challenges; monstrous characters are required to face such and the beginning and the end of political leadership is a battle for the hearts and the minds of the people.

When political leaders lose political capital, they become irrelevant. Leadership is action, not position. Leaders in positions of power become irrelevant if they hold those positions without a clear purpose and executive outcomes.

Confidence

Political leaders who have lost political capital apparently lose the legitimacy to govern; lose the support, cooperation and confidence of the people; and can no longer carry the sacred mandate of the people and that of Heaven; they are alone. The internal cancers that corrupt the system arise from internal attitudes, power struggles and imbalances.

Political leaders who have lost political capital have fallen from political grace and their political bases and foundations have dissipated, they are isolated. Apparently, random events cause the right leaders to become the wrong leaders, the right influences to become the wrong influences and the right assets to become the wrong assets.

Survive

These wrongs are wrong because they are no longer fit to survive and prosper; they become wrong because they do not adapt. They lack flexibility. A political leadership with political capital is one that creates and maintains a strategic system that is intelligent and adaptive, and that is fit to win and survive.
In our scenario, political leaders who do not serve the national interest are already irrelevant. They have lost political capital and can no longer carry the mandate of the country; they cannot deliver peace, prosperity and freedom.

When grievances become protest actions against political leadership; when revolutionaries and radicals take centre stage against political leadership, that is an incipient indicator of loss of political capital and the need to retain the political initiative by winning the battle for hearts and minds by positive leadership actions becomes imperative.
