FEAR IS ONLY ABSTRACT

Sir,

I don’t know who you are or where you are; but there is a voice deep inside of me which I could not silence, so here I am, with a pen and paper.
I want you to hearken to me and promise me never to forget this that I am going to say to you.

I want you to stand up from that dusty ground you are lying on; that little corner you are ducking in; that comfortable seat you are regaling on called the comfort zone.

I do not know what excuse you have been making to justify why you will not dare yourself to try to do something great; why you allow people to blow out your candle; why you allow yourself to set abstract boundaries for you; why you keep hiding behind how life is unfair and you have no resources to actually try to make that dream of yours reality – to allow it to manifest itself in real life.

I do not want to believe that circumstance is the reason most of us will live our dream lives only and only in our heads until the day we meet the Lord Jesus.

I do not want to believe that this ‘unfair’ life is the reason we do not train our minds to be strong enough to tell us, “Hey, maybe it will work out; maybe it won’t, but I’m going to take this first step and see where the universe leads me. I’m going to give my business a try, even though everyone else believes it’s ridiculous; even though I’m scared, I’m going to be bold just this once.”

It is okay to make mistakes. We learn from them – they make us who we are. It is okay to be scared. Change is scary, and I would know because I get scared too.

Frank Winfield Woolworth was scared too before establishing Woolworths stores. Henry Ford was scared too before his invention became a success.
I do not think that little birds get their first flying lessons right but thing is, they had to fly and leave the nest so they did just that; got it wrong once, twice, maybe seven times even, but they eventually got it right.

And no, they didnot chill in the nest and wait for a miracle to happen. They kept trying out flying until they got it right. I donot want to believe that we are incapable, no.

Maybe I cannot sing like Mariah Carey, but I can sing and that is what matters. I am not Mariah Carey, hence I will allow me to be me – no one else but me.
I want to believe that fear is only an abstract entity which clips our wings, only and only if we allow it to.

Albert Einstein once said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
