LAFA ELIHLE KAKHULU

Sir,

One runs short of words and as such I do not know where to start. Well my intention today is to address the issue of Siteki public transport operators who do as they please and this affects commuters and the Siteki community at large. They started by inconveniencing us by closing the drop off/loading zone with concrete barriers next to Boxer Stores. That placed the life of the public at risk as people had to walk from the mall to their various destinations. This inconvenienced not only those who use public transport but even private car owners who couldn’t access the drop off/loading zone to either give lifts or drop their relatives and friends.

Forced

People are forced to walk from town to board public transport ngaka Motsa, which is about a kilometre away from town. This is all because of some permit holders who do not even own a bus or a kombi. We don’t know how they were even voted into the public transport operators committee because they don’t have public transport vehicles. Nyaloke basigilela imihlolo, can a normal thinking person hike fares from E25 to E40 without even giving a notice to the commuters? Well we do understand that government contributed to this with the E0.85 levy on fuel. The timing was wrong and uncalled for when looking at the current situation in the country. Isengwa noma seyikhipha ingati? I boarded a bus from Siteki to Manzini on Sunday and paid E25 but when going back on Monday I got a shock of my life as I was handed a fare ticket of E40. A serious altercation ensued when it was time for me to pay. I had E25 on me and the bus conductor wanted E40.

Raining

And at that moment it was raining very hard and the bus we were travelling in was allowing a lot of the rainwater in, and most passengers ended up being wet. What they are more concerned about is our money, not the service and good customer care. Emathayi lokuhamba ngawo ungawahlaba ngenyalitsi ingene igijima.
