LIFE OF LISWATI TERTIARY STUDENT

Sir,

There are three kinds of people, those who make things happen, those who watch things happening and those who wonder what happened.
After a storm has passed, most things are left in disorder such that you end up thinking they were meant to be that way.

It is believed that when something is being said again and again, it eventually sounds true yet it is not.
I am writing in response to a story that was published on November 12 2019, titled ‘Stop sweet-talking us ~ Limkokwing Students tell PS’.

Failed

Again government has failed tertiary students in disbursing allowances.
In one of the universities that is known by the writer, there is a significant number of students who have not yet received their monthly instalments which were supposed to be received on October 25, according to the 30-day cycle promised by government. According to a reliable source in a certain class at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, about 80 per cent are still expecting their instalment.

Re-register

They were on Friday ordered to re-register their account numbers for the fourth time now.
It is noted that the registering of account numbers began on October 2 and the students are ordered to repeat the same process now and then.
Why is government, after failing to honour their promise, then sweet-talking the students.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security, through the PS during the programme aired by EBIS known as ‘Letishisako’ has been telling the nation that all students have been paid.
The ministry has failed to pay all the students and further runs to the media to publish that all students have been paid, thus hindering the students from asking money from their parents because they believe that everything said by government is true.

Njengoba singakayitfoli lemali bese hulumende utjela live lonkhe kutsi siyitfolile, sesitawucela kubani asetsembe.
As this week marks the beginning of final examinations in some universities, Limkokwing and UNESWA to be precise.

Most students will write the exam only because they are summoned by the paper otherwise they are not ready, how can you expect them to be ready with empty stomaches.
That is the life of liSwati tertiary student. It is hardly understood until you become a student.
