GOD IS NOT A ‘BLESSER’

Sir,

God’s blessings play an integral part of our lives that no one can live without and some come as a disguise, while others just hit you when you least expect them or are ready to receive them.

Even though teachings around this subject seem vague and come in different shapes and sizes, there is a stipulated way that God has put for His people to obtain His blessings.

As I usually say, life is simple; we just do not accept it because we want complicated stuff that will somehow shine the light on us, giving us a status of some sort. Complex situations or entities may feel good sometimes giving you a little taste of life, however, they finally bring nothing.
You can be over the moon for just a second but when that excitement dies down, you will be beyond repair.

God orchestrated life to be simple and those who find this simple truth never struggle in life. They rejoice with each new day.
One famous writer, O.G Mandino, summarised it by saying `keep it simple, stupid.  If you simplify your life, you will come up with inventions, plans, ideas and strategies you have never thought of before.

More than anything, your life will take a turn that will surprise everybody.
Back to our subject of discussion, the blessings that we are hungry for are just stationed on our doors, it depends on us whether to welcome them or forfeit them. Many times we rush for those that we excitedly grab from church.

It’s interesting to watch the desperation in people’s eyes when they are to receive blessings from the man of God and most of those people who jump and grab car keys, houses and marriage don’t want anything to do with God; they only want His blessings. Luckily, God is not a blesser.
Even blessers want something in return for their money.

God wants things done His way not the other way round. If we seek the privilege of being His people and accessing His blessings, we ought to obey Him. Note this, blessings come from a relationship.

HOW God tested ABRAHAM

For Abraham to be a father of nations, he first became God’s friend and God tested him throughout the journey of his life.
He even tested Him with his only son Isaac, whom he was blessed with in old age. The man passed the test and became the most important person in the history of human kind, bearing in mind that even today we still speak of him.

Therefore, everyone who wants God to bless them must build a relationship with Him that will sustain their lives.
You have to know Him, stand by Him and learn more of Him. That puts you a step closer to unlimited blessings.
Also, blessings always have a price tag.

The initial price is not cash, as most preachers preach these days.
Abraham never paid God any money but he earned God’s trust through obedience. Obedience begets favour, which one needs to possess and to obtain blessings, be ready to pay the price.

If truth be told, you will never be ready to pay the price but be flexible when that moment comes.
Believe you me; you will not regret that sacrifice.
If you get something easily, even its disappearance will be easy and you will not value it. That is why you have to sweat a little to value what God has done for you.

God’s blessings are not for sale or hard to get.
They just need someone who can successfully manage them. God has no problem in blessing His people; the ultimate goal is the mission behind the promotion. It’s in a person’s nature to be proud and arrogant; that cuts across those who are chosen and not chosen. Pride engulfs most people which God distastes. Sometimes, it is the solitary reason you have to pass through the wilderness, for you to be ready to contain the blessings.

Blessings have to be gracefully maintained, so that one does not become pompous over the works of the Almighty.
Finally, blessings are not obtained where you may fathom them to be, they are hidden in your backyard. Taking care of your neighbour and helping others who need help qualifies you to be blessed.

That  takes a lot of courage, humbleness and sacrifice.
Some will label you as someone who wants recognition and say all sorts of things that are contrary to your initial intentions.
When that happens, it creates resentment but never give up on doing something good because God will reward you at the right time.
