FEAR NOT, BUT GOD ONLY

Sir,

“Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voices of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”

This ominous and chilling message was conveyed by Harry Truman, 33rd President of the United States of America on August 8, 1950 to Congress, on the Internal Security of the USA.Some of us were not born during that period. I believe Truman said these words in the face of an increasingly threatening and permeating atmosphere of evil that had already begun spreading itself in the minds of evil rulers in his country and around the world.

Since the dawn of creation, evil rulers have relentlessly resorted to the notion that the only way to silence opposition or dissention, is to use force and fear, be ruthless to the opposition, striking fear so that every country’s citizen can toe the line.

I am always inundated with messages of support and get positive comments from a cross section of readers who always encourage me to soldier on and continue writing truth to power.

Sadly, one reaction which always tears my feelings into shreds is: whenever I ask for the identity of the callers or of those who inbox or WhatsApp me, a majority fearfully prefer to remain anonymous. When I query why they prefer that, the answer is always the same: they fear reprisals from our authorities. Cry the beloved country! This reaction never fails to leave me shattered and broken in spirit.

We have a document in our midst called a Constitution, which purportedly is the Supreme Law of the country, protecting the fundamental human rights, inclusive of freedom of expression, but our people continue to live under the reprehensible, infernal, barbaric and incorrigible 1973 Decree axe, hanging over our necks. We continue to cower and live under the remnants of the rule of terror which was at its epitome during the Liqoqo reign of terror led by the notorious henchmen - both late - in Prince Mfanasibili and George Msibi.

For Pete’s sake, the Constitution should be protecting our people from reprisals for exercising freedom of expression, assembly, and you name it. Sadly, big brother does not want to hear none of that. As writers, we are constantly putting our necks on the block for exposing truth. If we do not tread carefully and fail to practice self-censorship, be prepared to hear that loud knock in the still of the night from agents of darkness, ready to collect you.

Is this fair, we ask? Someone or some holier-than-thou heroes, somewhere out there, are constantly devising evil schemes to muzzle and censor writers of the truth. They are afraid of having their evil deeds, hanged in the outside, for all to see. They threaten and intimidate and that is how they cement their illicitly begotten power and positions. I will tell you a well-known secret which is deliberately chosen to be ignored by those who hate the truth and its bearers.

In this world and the one yonder, in the heavenly realms, there are two beings that are above sin and reproach - the One and Only True God and His Son Jesus Christ, period!

The rest of us humanity are, but ‘dust’ and will return to dust one day. If I may ask, where evil rulers like Hitler, Idi Amin, Gaddafi, the Khmer Rouge death squads? They are all, but dust and a heap of bones in that final destiny of all mankind - the grave. All of us who travel that lonely road, will soon in the not-so-distant future, wake up during sounding of the Last Trumpet, the resurrection, to keep our appointment with the One who has the keys to Life and Hades.
So, to my readers, I say “Fear not. Fear God only, who has the power to resurrect mankind...and the divine power to throw all those who persecuted others, into the coming lake of fire. Shalom!
