BRING DEVELOPMENT TO CHIEFDOMS

 Sir,

Have you ever felt so young and so old at the same time? Ever felt like King Solomon in Proverbs and Ecclesiastics, so clever and stupid all at once. I have gotten to a point in my life where I feel like a three legged pot, very useful at Maphalaleni but useless in Dalriach. I’m a liSwati stuck with a white man’s credentials. It’s not my fault!

Now, when Makron in France became the youngest head of State in that country, I was like; “What? A 38-year-old president, not just an MP?”
My juices began to flow again. Then Musi Maimane is neighbouring South Africa became the leader of the DA, I wished I was back canvassing for the youth in Benoni.

But hey, my country is Eswatini. Then recently I marveled and was taken aback when Princess Sikhanyiso took the microphone at the recent Sibaya gathering. I cried and wished we were still friends on Facebook but hey.
By all the above what I’m trying to drive at is that we, of the 80s siyaguga manje.

Warming

We are still warming up on the sidelines. People of the 50s and 60s still run the show in our country. Sitawu fundzanini tembusave and the economics of the country because we are still languishing at home with our diplomas and degrees. If someone isn’t stuck in the wrong job, venting out his or her anger on the wrong people, where he or she feels lost, of course, because it’s not ‘their calling’ and or field of expertise.

We are busy in the wrong occupations (gathering dust and smoking cement, just to get by). Now, by the time sekufanele kube ‘sikhatsi setfu’, as our elders say, what is the country going to be like? Kona lama CVs lesibhizi siwangcolisa with irrelevant experience etc, atosisita yini vele, eventually?

I am not directing these questions to anyone because they are my problems. But, I’m seriously praying to our new government. The King has really fed humble pie to heavy critics of the Eswatini political climate and I wish I was better than Msandi kababa imbongi on this. Bayethe, wena Waphakathi! I am optimistic about Parliament this time around, especially our Cabinet ministers.

I am glad I was 50 per cent accurate with my prediction on a few ministers, including Inkhosatana Sikhanyiso, Manqoba Khumalo, Neal Rijkenberg and Themba Masuku (DPM). Halala Eswatini!
Development
Sesiyacela ke nine bekunene, swallow the lip-service and bring development where it matters the most, as per the system of governance. Siyicela la etinkhundleni and chiefdoms lentfutfuko, not Mbabane, Matsapha and Manzini.
