MOVE TOWARDS A PARADIGM SHIFT

 Sir,

We have talked much about the obtaining socio-economic and political situation in the country but I feel we have not said enough to create an awakening with regard to the dire need for Eswatini to be self-sustainable.

We need to move every liSwati towards a paradigm shift with regard to the importance of doing the least that nature requires of every human being; which is the importance of the ability to first feed oneself and those around you and beyond.

EmaSwati need to shy away from the beggar mentality and begin to use the ample resources that we have as assets in this beautiful kingdom of ours. Foreign aid can only take us so far, and we cannot afford to rely on imports to feed ourselves.

Climate change has been a big threat for quite some time now and, the existence of places that are genuinely ravaged by the effects of droughts and civil wars means that the time is coming, and now is when foreign aid will be forever redirected away from countries such as ours. We must therefore steer away from the disabling mentality of letting every other train pass, while we hope and wait for what we deem to be the right one.

There has been musc talk about legalizing dagga but nothing is being done. I know we are headed for First World status but hold on a second, as a nation we are visibly in our infancy stage, hence the need to redress and start afresh.

There are essential steps that we have skipped, such as those that see destitute Mozambicans able to adapt in foreign harsh environments, because they acquired basic hands on skills. Government must drill us for self-productivity and that means encouraging us by limiting the importing of things we can produce. Let us help train one another on self-sustenance and help resurrect the economy. If emaSwati play a pivotal role in resurrecting the economy as they grow their capital they will open big factories and proceeds will stay at home.
