A LIFE FULL OF CHOICES

Sir,

The ability to choose is one characteristic that distinguishes human beings from animals. Human beings were actually given the power to choose by God the creator himself. They have the authority to choose the things that suit them or rather they feel satisfied with.

I remember one lady who was asked the reason behind imbibing alcohol and she proudly responded by saying we as homosapiens have the right to do whatever we want with our lives because we were given that dominion by God.

To be as honest as a mirror, I was devastated and perplexed at the same time. I wondered if God made a mistake by making homosapiens agents of free morality.

Homosapiens have to try and learn to practice good behaviour all the time in spite of the fact that they are agents of free morality. It should always be their heart’s desire to choose the right path despite any circumstances.

We cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that making a decision to do what is right is not as easy as a walk in the park but then it has infinite tranquility and will always be for the best results in their lives.

The right path may be filled with obstacles but they should not be our barrier or rather prevent us from continuing doing what is right all the time.
One of my favourite examples of an ideal route, yet it seems a little bit taxing, is studying.

Although we are fully aware that for one to make it in their studies is through studying but we will be far away from the truth if we can say that taking our last atom of strength to study is as easy as winking.
At the end when the results are out stating that you have excelled you become exhilarated and on top of the world. This simply means that choosing to do a positive and beneficial thing at times seems costly yet at the end of it all the reward is worth the trouble.

However, the way to downfall always looks eye-catching yet at the end its consequences are bitter. Most people choose to do awful things with the assumption that they are cool and worth it yet at the end they are to suffer.

It is therefore a wise decision for everyone to make it a point to do away with the negative and useless things no matter how much they may be attractive.
Each time you make a choice bear in mind that you can never flee from its consequences.
Let us honour God’s gift of choice for us by doing what is good rather than using it as a platform of defending ourselves when questioned about our ungodly lifestyles.
