ELECTIONS PROPAGANDA

Sir,

My wish for Swaziland is to move from being an underdeveloped country has landed me in a strong passion to leave the country. The problem is neither about the prime minister nor the ministers themselves but it lies on absolute bootlicking that we have been nursing so far. I hate this because it has become our culture.

During the elections some lady told me that it was wrong to criticise the election of uneducated people into Parliament, and that’s bootlicking gentlemen. Imagine a country that is vying for a First World status but still opting for illiteracy as a pill to solve all our economic situations.

Two months down the line people are complaining about Cabinet and you say some ministers are not educated. Kani ukhetfwe bobani?
In some constituencies like mine, we never elected a person who is worthy of being part of Cabinet.

I want to admit that we are not even 20 per cent towards achieving His Majesty King Mswati III’s dream.
Where are we really taking our educated people to yebekunene? We do have things to help our Cabinet but then speaking Greek to Zulu or Xhosa doesn’t work.

In fact you need to coach someone who can play not someone who doesn’t even know what size a ball is.
We have serious issues as a nation, including those about poverty and sound education. Who can we talk too?
These days we have every Tom giving gifts, cash and free booze to the young people in order to canvas for votes even before nomination.

It’s fine we can’t reverse things but then in 2018 the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) should stop misleading the electorate kufuneka incwadzi.

I’m sorry to those who think am joking. Hate me or not we need a government that will be sensitive. Our education system is wayward and it’s difficult to open a business in Swaziland, you need to have a lease agreement and one wonders how you can secure an office when you are just starting a business.

Then how do we employ our fellow Swazis when even we are denied opportunities.
The banks too don’t care about start-up businesses.

For how long shall we be underdeveloped? An Elections Indaba is needed even before we go for nominations.
We can complain about proper and relevant education, lack of job opportunities and what not but the truth is that it all lies in those that we elect.
About 70 per cent of the candidates don’t even have a simple Diploma but they did have money for campaigns, what is that?

Khabako
