CORRUPT ARMY PROMOTIONS

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

We have been quiet for long enough, with the hope that things would change for the better but things have gone from bad to worse in this organisation.

I will make an example; during the pass-out of the Suka Sambe Regiment, only two officers deserved promotion on that day. Army Commander General Sobantu  Dlamini has disgraced the Commander-in-Chief of the army. He should not have rapidly done this if he respected the King, taxpayers and the rest of the soldiers. This organisation is not funded at Nkhaba but it is funded by taxpayers. And to show your appreciation to taxpayers, you must have the following; 1. Highly- trained and disciplined commanders; 2. Physically and mentally fit soldiers. What are you going to do with these baby generals? What should one achieve before you are promoted to a rank of a general? At what age should one be promoted to being a general? Here I am talking about an army not a militia.

One of your baby generals undertook three courses in his military life but he is a major general today. The courses he undertook are only meant for a platoon commander but he is a general today. No promotions go through without his name in the list. Lastly, look at the Lt. General, you have recently promoted; he has only got one military course but today he is a Lt. General. People who have been trained, both locally and abroad, are being frustrated by the army commander’s leadership style. A defence council that will help clean the mess caused by the army commander should be formed. Promotions from now on should be through examinations, both in class and in the field; safa bomsheshelengwana.
