TRIBUTE TO VICTOR GAMEDZE

Sir,

I didn’t personally know the late Swallows boss, Victor Gamedze, and I never knew that January 14, 2018 would bring tears and sadness that even today I’m still struggling to accept that he is no more.

He might have had his mistakes but his good works and visionary mind was there for everyone to appreciate.
It took him almost 20 years to build the Mbabane Swallows brand that is now recognisable in Africa, but it took less than a minute for his perpetrators to do the unthinkable.

Now as a Swallows family we are disjointed, weeping day in and day out at a loss of such a leader, and some people are finding pleasure in mocking a bereaved family.

It is true, cracks are beginning to emerge as evident in the recent SwaziBank Cup exit against Green Mamba and Lesotho side, Bantu, but I have a message for the Swallows family and enemies.

To the enemies, you are taking this rivalry beyond limits. One team hosted the team we recently eliminated from Lesotho, assisting the visiting team with everything from escorting their fans and helping with special assignments, what a disgrace, being sold out by our own while hoisting the flag of the Swazi nation.

What I saw in the recent SwaziBank Cup exit against Green Mamba was inexplicable; at the sound of the final whistle, fans of a rivalry team invaded the pitch, in support of Green Mamba fans who had invaded the pitch.
They couldn’t contain their joy. If Green Mamba is charged for the pitch invasion of fans, Mbabane Highlanders should also be charged.

Swallows is a big brand, even Barcelona loses; Manchester City were recently booted out of the FA by Wigan. You must not beat a man when he is down for when he rises, you will be left bamboozled.

To the Swallows family, the players, management, technical team, I know it is difficult, Mr Gamedze is gone but this is not the time to start showing cracks. It is time we should be fighting tooth and nail in honour of Gamedze.
He was taking you to greater heights but a coward decided to destroy that dream, but do not lose focus, do not please our enemies, let us do the fighting in the pitch.

God will fight for us in the other battle; justice will be served to whosoever was behind the death of our boss.
I know you guys are capable, so Sandile Zwane, Lloyd Maziya, Thabo Vilakati, Tony Tsabedze and all the players make things work gentlemen, the enemies we created by winning everything on offer will be watching in pain as we claim another treble this season.

Lastly, to Mrs Gamedze, we feel your loss, know that God is there for you. Do not let wolves in sheep skin lead you astray, you saw how your husband built this brand, continue where he left off.

Your gold medal will await you when you meet your husband in heaven. To Mr Victor Maradona Gamedze, may your soul rest in peace; Abakuyekele uphumule for you fought a good fight.
