WILL 50/50 DONATIONS REACH DESTINATION?

Sir,

I am privileged to have been born before independence and I am so privileged to have lived post independence.

I am so privileged to have reconciled my life with my creator God Jehovah, who has promised to welcome me into eternal life with him.
This comes as no surprise because many people could not make it to my age because of many reasons. Living in this kingdom which claims full adherence to the Constitution in principle and yet in reality it is not, I have watched some new developments in many areas manifesting.

The provision of electricity, clean water, construction of new schools, clinics, health centres are great developments and are bringing change into many people’s lives. This is really a great stride and I really applaud our kingdom for archieving that.
I really wish His Majesty King Mswati III a long life and the whole Swazi nation a healthy life and prosperity.

Now, the unfortunate thing is that as we progress in all aspects of life and in all spheres, we are equally progressing in corruption and evil. Despite that we seem to have accepted corruption as part and parcel of our sorry lives, I want to take this opportunity to condemn it at all costs. It is a norm and culture that when we are celebrating such a double event like the upcoming 50/50, as a nation, we shall be contributing towards the success of this function.

Contributions will be in many forms, ranging from money, beasts, presents, furniture etc but the big question and concern I have is; will all these gifts reach the intendent receipients?
Obviously no! I can only say watch the space and see how those who will be tasked with organising the historic event will become millionaires overnight. I can tell you right now that even the cows that will be slaughtered will end up in car boots of some individuals. Here in Swaziland, corruption is viewed as a sign of intelligence and yet it is a sin, which God hates. It is known that in Swaziland you can steal anything but as long as you don’t tamper with land, it is fine.

How I wish I could be appointed to fight this corruption scourge in our country. It is a fact that people at some Chiefdoms will be told to contribute towards this event but the truth is, all the contributions will not reach the destination.

To avoid this from happening, there should be a mechanism that will be put in place to collect all contributions from different countries that will be contributing to different individuals. I suggest that maybe the Central Bank of Swaziland (CBS) should come into play here. Individuals should go to the central bank and deposit monetary gifts for his Majesty and get a receipt thereafter. We are tired of seeing overnight millionaires.

I will personally give my gift to His Majesty in person no third party involved here.  Swazis must learn that the old generation of ‘yes’ men is no more. We now question how things have been done.
We do not take crap from anyone without questioning. As a 50 year old country from colonial rule, we need to see a commitment to increase the elderly grants to at least E1 500 per month. Give the disabled E1 000 per month. Reduce the money that Cabinet Ministers, PM, DPM and MPs are getting, increase the money for civil servants, remunerate Chiefs and community headmen (indvuna temimango). Give a stipend to all graduates until they get jobs.

Create jobs for all unemployed school leavers. If this could be done, it can actually make everybody happy in this country as we move the country forward to 2022.
If all this can be put in place, then we can fully say we are happy in this country. As long as our wealth is being enjoyed by a few individuals, then Swazis cannot say they are enjoying their independence.  May God bless Their Majesties and the Swazi Nation.
