NEGLIGENCE RESULTS IN FATAL ACCIDENTS

Sir,

While we continue to strive to live life to our capacities, we should be cognisant of the fact that God has placed a limit on one’s number of years on earth.

The nation is increasingly worried and anxious about human safety on the road due to uncultured road users who drive recklessly and in whose negligence a lot of fatal accidents occur on a daily basis.

The number of accident casualties is very high owing to drivers’ recklessness to adhere to and obey road safety rules.
We are sick and tired of murderous motorists who have ended the lives of many on the road due to their absurd mistakes and rash decisions.

It’s high time a hard-line policy on reckless driving is enforced to punish careless road users. To put it bluntly most nasty accidents are a result of carelessness.

The police have invariably sternly warned and arrested careless drivers but their voice has remained in vain as a lot of fatal accidents continue to happen on the road. Shockingly, a week never goes by without another accident occurring to the extent that it claims lives; deaths which could have been prevented. I am panic stricken because the long awaited festive season is fast approaching, and a lot more scary accidents will happen to the detriment of human lives.

Why can’t motorists drive with caution, taking care not to cause road accidents? As far as the whole situation is concerned, the onus is on drivers to drive with fastidious care and consciousness. I want to believe that they can curb road fatalities and make the road a safe journey to our final destinations. I strongly feel it’s everyone’s responsibility to call on a curb on road accidents.

We also hope that the team of police officers will continue to monitor the road situations in all parts of the country. Let’s cherish their efforts as they execute their duties honestly. They have the capacity to change the situation for the better.
